Mani Monday #4: Color Club

This week for Mani Monday I tested out Color Club which retails for about $4-5 and I've found huge collections of them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, but I was first introduced to this brand through Birchbox. This is a fairly new brand to me, I own a few bottles but honestly don't reach for it much so I won't be able to provide much of a generalization at the end. Mani Monday is a weekly feature where I put a different brand of nail polish to a 7 day test. I chronicle my activities for each day with thoughts of things that could potentially attribute to chipping my polish. I use the same base and top coat each week, and this week applied two coats of Color Club Soft As Cashmere. I've been having manicure struggle lately but I must say not bad this week (by my standards). There will be a full list and links to all previous Mani Mondays at the end of this post.

Day One. Typing typing typing. Nothing crazy has happened to my nails so far. Those air bubbles are really bothering me. This is my own fault I don't let the coats dry properly in between but who's got time for that?!
Day Two. There's a chip starting to form on the thumb of my right hand, it kind of looks like the polish is wearing out along the edges and creating this mess. So there was typing (surprise right?) and some hair washing going on. Otherwise nothing too crazy.
Day Three. This is holding up pretty well. I see the signs of the nail polish being pushed back from the tips again on my index and middle finger, otherwise no chips or anything. I can kind of see at the base (near the cuticles) where the polish is starting to lift up a bit though. As usual nothing crazy today, just another typical day in my life.
Day Four. Typing nothing new, no changes.
Day Five. There was hair washing and lots of vegetable chopping, washing and peeling still looking pretty good. (I had paragraphs before for day four and five but for some reason they didn't save hence these short emotionless sentences instead)
Day Six. Okay I don't know what happened but there's a chunk missing from my right middle finger? I really didn't do anything all day and actually woke up with it like this. The sides are also peeling away on my left index finger. Mystery.
Day Seven. Not much change. Typing today, more of the polish is flaking away from the bases (right middle, index and left ring, middle index) but oddly enough there's not really been any chips at the tips.

Final Thoughts. The initial application was a little rough. It went on smoothly but dried with a good amount of air bubbles in the polish which was annoying. Overall pretty solid work I give this an A-. It was weird that it was flaking away near the cuticles but I suspect that is more due to how I applied it than the polish itself. I've had more experiences with their metallic polishes and I must say stay away. Streaks and lumps for days, just not good. If you're looking for a less expensive of the mid level polishes I say Color Club is a good option also due to their wide range of colors.

If you missed the previous weeks be sure to check them out here!
