Mani Monday #16: Nailtini

I'm starting to get into the random nail polish brands. This week is Nailtini which is not even something I knew existed until Ipsy. It's kinda cool, it's a whole line of nail polish (and other makeup) that all have alcohol in the formula and all the nail polishes have cute drink names, one bottle retails for $13 and I've never seen them in stores, just on their site. Application was horrible. The polish was thick and the brush dragged like crazy. It was a huge task to get the coats even and most of my nails dried with massive bubbles. Not pleased.

Mani Monday is a weekly feature where I put a different brand of nail polish to a 7 day test. I chronicle my activities for each day with thoughts of things that could potentially attribute to chipping my polish. I use the same base and top coat each week, and this week applied two coats of Nailtini's Mai Tai. There will be a full list and links to all previous Mani Mondays at the end of this post.
Day One. One of the nails got a little squished. Oops..This is like Julep fiasco all over again. It didn't chip all the way to the nail but there's a chip on my right middle finger and all my nails, the polish is kind of morphing as if it didn't dry all the way and it's getting pushed around. Not quite sure what is going on here.
Day Two. No change really. I'm surprised that half chip hasn't turned into a full chip yet. Washed a lot of dishes and cooked today and despite slamming my fingers into a few drawers we are still looking good.
Day Three. Despite the nasty finish of it, the nail polish is staying fairly well on my nails, again I'm surprised that the half chip hasn't flaked away a huge chunk of polish yet. Must be that vodka hard at work keeping it all together (hah). I really had to scrub and scrape at some dishes today, my bad for forgetting to let it soak in water right away.
Day Four. Today was hair washing day and house cleaning day. There is a slight nick on the surface of my left ring finger, but otherwise even that half chip is still looking good.
Day Five. I woke up this morning with a full on chip on my right middle finger. The nick on my left ring finger has gotten worse and there's also a small chip at the corner of that nail. Today was an adventure day I was out of the house and walking around a lot so I account these chips to natural wear and tear.

Day Six. The chip on my left ring finger has gotten worse as well as that nick. The right middle finger has chipped more too, now it almost looks like a french manicure. Everything else is still holding up albeit a little ratty but my easy day of sun tanning and playing catch up on some work and chores hasn't been crazy on my nails.
Day Seven. As I was pulling a credit card out of my wallet today my right thumb polish got pushed back slightly and squashed. Kind of like what happens when you don't let the color dry completely and then put on the top coat so it's still soft underneath and smudges? Yeah that happened seven full days after application...The two existing chips have gotten more chipped but not ridiculously and there are small new chips on the side of my right thumb, right ring, and left middle finger.

Final Thoughts. It's a fun gimmick with the cocktail inspired names for this alcohol infused nail polish but I must say you can pass on it. For the price I expect much better quality so I'm giving this polish a D. The application was so bad but it held up pretty well all week so it's not a flat out fail in my book. There are many more nail polishes out there that will deliver this wear time at a much more affordable price and less irritating application so definitely skip out on paying the full $13 for these guys.
