Review: theBalm's Spearmint Aloe Face Mask

Hair masks, face masks, hand masks...anything really I'm a total sucker for masks! One day I should do a post about all the face masks I have (it's up there in the double digits!) because I just love using different ones 1-2 times a week! It's just so relaxing to come home from a long day at work and just put on a face mask to wind down, and I can tell you that my skin is not complaining from that extra pampering! It's really no secret that theBalm is probably my favorite makeup brand, or at least a close tie with Benefit, and I've started dabbling into a lot of their skincare and finding a lot of hits and misses.

Today I bring you the Spearmint Aloe Face Mask which retails for $20 for a 70 ml jar! This one is targeted towards normal to combination skin and claims to be the perfect detox for your complexion! It cleanses, tightens, and refines, while Peppermint Oil leaves your skin feeling refreshed. As with all of theBalm products it is paraben-free, synthetic dye-free, phthalate-free, cruelty-free & made in the USA.
I snagged this guy in my haul off HauteLook so I paid a discounted price of $8 and unlike my previous skincare purchases I can already tell you that this impressed me! Check out my reviews on the Almond Microdermabrasion Face Exfoliating Scrub and Blueberry Face Treatment Mask if you're interested! First of all, opening the jar you are immediately assaulted with a refreshing minty smell that is not too overwhelming. It's a white, thicker paste like consistency that really takes some scooping to get out. Already I can tell that I will go through this jar quite quickly because it doesn't spread that easily over my face so it takes a good amount in order to spread an even layer. It takes a full 15 to 20 minutes to dry on my face but it feels very cooling the whole time.
After rinsing it off my skin feels tighter but hydrated and I've noticed that my pore appear smaller and my acne clears up from using it. I think this mask is very comparable to the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque that I'm obsessed with but it is much more hydrating. Overall, if you're going to drop $20 for a mask I would recommend picking this one up! It's great for normal to oily skin and will leave your face feeling soft and refreshed.

Have you tried this mask? What are your thoughts?
