Review: Queen Helene Grape Seed Extract Peel Off Masque

Face masks. I think they are my one true love. Almost everyday my favorite way to unwind from the day is to put on a face mask. It's like a mini spa break and it's the perfect time to read a few chapters of my current book (right now I'm making my way through the Hannah Swenson mysteries!) as I let it set. I'm a devoted user to the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque so a few weeks ago when I was at Bed, Bath and Beyond (you can read about the complete haul here) this guy caught my eye! This is the Queen Helene Grape Seed Extract Peel Off Masque and it costs about $4. This one is a peel off masque (duh) that is intended to clean out pores, soften facial lines, and soothe and tone skin. Taking advantage of grape seed extract, which has great antioxidant properties, it works to enhance your natural skintone.

This squeezes out a clear slightly purple gel and the smell reminds me of jelly beans. This has quite a strong smell and if you apply it too close to your eyes, you may experience some stinging. The second ingredient in the list is alcohol which is the culprit to this phenomenon. It's very thick and tacky so it's a little hard to spread it on your face. Like with all peel off masks avoid all hair and the sensitive eye area because the act of peeling could tug at your skin a little and give you the adverse effect of promoting fine lines. This stuff sets fairly quickly, about 10-15 minutes depending on how thick of a layer you apply and it's really fun to peel off! It can be used up to twice a week but honestly I feel like it's so gentle and hydrating that it would be fine to use more often.
As far as peel off masks go, this one is definitely a winner. Some masks I find dry strangely so it's hard to get it off in one sheet, I've never had this problem with this mask and it leaves very little residue behind. Visibly I don't see a dramatic difference after using this, but my skin feels SO soft and plump after just one use. It also doesn't irritate my skin at all like some peel off masks might and I will continue using it just because it makes my skin feel great for just $4!

Have you tried this mask? What are some of your favorite peel off masks?
