Review: Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask

I'm going to preface this with I have a slight prejudice when it comes to Neutrogena products (that's a story for another day) and I also have fairly high expectations when it comes to hair masks. I've used everything from cheap $5 drugstore options to masks that are $50+ before and have found hits and misses at all price ranges. Today we are talking about the Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask which retails for about $7 for a 6oz container. The packaging is your average plastic jar with a screw top and it is said to soften and moisturize extra dry and over-processed hair with the help of olive oil, meadowfoam seed oil, and sweet almond oil.

It's a pretty standard paste without much of a scent to it. It's pretty lightweight and feels only a little thicker than a traditional conditioner. A little bit is enough to cover the ends and it's easy to work into your hair and doesn't slip off the strands making it a breeze to let it sink into your hair for 3-5 minutes. It didn't feel heavy or weigh down my hair or make it feel greasy like some deep conditioning masks might. Immediately after rinsing my hair felt soft and had a good amount of slip however once it dried if anything it made my hair feel a little dryer and just overall didn't look or feel better than just using a basic conditioner with it. I read reviews online where it said this conditioner was better for long term effects but after using it for about a month at least once a week I'm sad to report it really has had no amazing results to my hair.
If you're looking for a hair mask, this probably isn't the route to go, it pretty much performed the same as an average conditioner. I did like how it made my hair feel in the shower but since the results didn't carry over once it was dry, this doesn't really count as a hair mask to me. I won't be repurchasing this once it's out, nor do I recommend it because I think it is quite pricey for something that delivers an average performance. It's not good, nor is it bad, it just simply does the job and that's enough for me.

Have you tried this hair mask out? What are your thoughts?
