January 2015 Favorites + Unfavorites!

The first month of 2015 is already over?! Wow that flew by fast! Looking back though I'm so excited with the direction my blog has been going and I'm thrilled that I see it going strong for the rest of the year! This was definitely a great month with some great products, and even more surprisingly, some of them are makeup items!! This January I had more occasions to put on a full face of makeup and I found a couple of items that I absolutely love. As always there are some great skincare finds and we are finishing off with some fun random items.

So I finally broke down and splurge on the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and now I understand the cult following! It is so wonderfully creamy and full coverage, while easily staying all night. And the packaging, so luxurious, I understand why it has such a hefty price tag! I've tried countless drugstore concealers and I could never find the right combination of color match, durability and coverage I wanted so I think this was worth the splurge especially since it's something I will go through slowly! My other two makeup favorites is the Naked 3 Palette and the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette (the original one). I've  always loved these separately but only recently did I realize how much they complimented each other. There are definitely some dupes between the two but as I was doing my eyes I realized the perfect inner corner color didn't exist in Naked 3 for me but I easily found it in the Chocolate Bar. I don't think I will ever use one without the other again because the more I'm looking at it the more I recognize great color combinations between the two!
My skin has come a long way and I think it's safe to say it's looking better than it was a year ago, months before my skin problems started! It's reduced to just one teeny tiny zit which isn't even visible, I can just feel it when I'm washing my face, and the skin itself is looking and feeling plump and fresh. The last thing I'm really combatting is evening out the skin tone from the scarring but I'm already seeing significant improvement and as a bonus my pores are cleaner than ever! What I really attribute to this change is a great trio of products the first one being the Dr Song Salicylic Acid Peel*. You can read a full review on the product here but basically this has really helped clear off the dead skin and clean out more pores leaving my skin softer and smoother than before. It's really helping to prevent breakouts and I'm thrilled I got the chance to be introduced to this miracle product! What's really helping to nourish and even out my skin is the InstaNatural Vitamin C Serum*.  There's also a snippet about the product here but Vitamin C is a great ingredient for brightening and evening so it has really been helping to lighten up scars. Lastly is the Laniege Water Sleeping Mask. I don't know what I've been doing not using sleeping masks but this leaves my skin feeling so amazingly hydrated and soft in the morning. It's a great weekly treat and now has a permanent spot in my nighttime skin care routine.
I've been really into matte nails this month so this OPI Matte Coat has been getting a work out. I'm especially loving doing nude nails with a matte coat, it just looks so elegant and polished (hah!). I was also in need of a new top coat so I finally decided to try Seche Vite and now I understand the hype. This month was just the month of cult followings for me! It really does dry your nails to the state where they are rock hard in about five minutes or less!! I'm such a fan now and this makes frequent manicures more doable because I won't be handicapped by my nails for hours! The last thing on my list that also has a cult following of its own are Coffin Kissers from the indie makeup brand Notoriously Morbid. Sorry I dropped this in the sink so the label is a little damp...The perfect blend of ingredients gives you a wonderfully creamy lip balm that really sticks well to your lips and is hydrating. I have about six of these, currently I'm using the Vanilla Veil (honey vanilla) one and I can't wait to break into the other flavors!

This month I actually didn't have any unfavorites! Instead I'm going to mention a product I regret buying. This is a product I don't exactly hate but I'm more kicking myself for picking it up altogether.
The Freeman's Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask is my regret for this month. Again this is something with a cult following (I was just a follower this month, accept it!) so I decided to give it a try. I'm not a fan because it doesn't spread evenly on my face. I feel like it is more of a face scrub and less of a mask which is actually what I'm going to use it for instead just to get rid of it. It has the exact consistency of a sugar face scrub so you can imagine how this stuff stays in chunks rather than spreading evenly on your face like a mask.

*Products sent to me free for review, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I would not provide a positive review unless I truly believed it was an awesome product!
