Currently Obsessed With: Summertime

I don't know about the rest of the world but the weather is definitely heating up in California. I'm loving waking up in the morning and not having to squigee my windows to drive to work, and the transition to dresses and shorts is inevitable. I mean I should be concerned that it is only March and global warming and all, but I can't help but welcome this warm weather. Today I wanted to just come on here and list some things that I love about summertime (or actually warm weather) and things that are just really putting me into the mood of it all.

  • Recently I've dusted off my set of The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, and I refuse to listen to anyone who says I am too old for these books. I firmly believe that all books are special are can truly be enjoyed by anyone. Heck I have no shame to admit that I love to peruse some sentimental picture books that made the cut during the great bookshelf purge of 2012. Those who are familiar with the series get it, but those that aren't, all of these books are set during summer so this has really got me dreaming about long sunny days and blue skies.
  • My recent trip to Vegas left me with a sunburn that has now turned into sunkissed color. This is causing me to look forward to getting tanner just from walking around outside and the ability to really use my bronzer since I feel like all that contouring action looks best when I have darker skin. Summer is also the time to really let my blush and highlighter game pop so I'm looking forward to that.
  • I mean let's just keep talking about makeup, this is mostly a beauty blog right? I have a lot of foundation that is my "summer color" so as the days get warmer I will have access to a wider range of products! There are some serious favorites that are sadly in my summer shade so I welcome the chance to use them.
  • Summer also means no allergies at least for me, it's the only season where I am not miserably congested and dependent on pills to get through the day!
  • Also warm weather means that I can sleep with the windows open. I enjoy have a light breeze blowing in my room and it seems easier to fall asleep and stay asleep when it is like this. Especially when it's horribly hot during the day, the temperate nights are a very nice thing.
What are some things you're looking forward to with summer?
