Current TV Show Obsessions

I hope you all aren't getting the wrong impression with me but lately I've really been writing a lot about TV and movies and such. I swear I read daily too! But it's a lot easier to be watching multiple movies and shows while it is hard to read more than one book at a time so I never really have much to say when it comes to books! Perhaps I should start doing some book reviews on here, I think a long time ago I did do a mini review on some books. Anyways summertime is usually the time for reality TV series but that has been changing. There are a few shows that have been going on this summer that I'm thoroughly hooked on with two of them being brand new series. I thought it would be fun to talk about a few shows I'm addicted to right now.

  • Scream: The TV Series. I'll admit I've never actually watched any of the Scream movies but it's such a classic story that I'm well aware of the story line. Imagine my surprise when I found out that MTV turned this slasher move into a TV show! At first I was thinking how this could possibly work, but it's two episodes in so far and it's working. It's the perfect amount of gore and creepiness to keep you satisfied and on the edge of your seat. Since I'm unaware of the exact story of Scream I'm not sure how much they are actually borrowing from the movie but I'm digging the story so far and I'm excited to see where this will go.
  • American Ninja Warrior. This is a show I've always watched casually but this summer it has been epic! It's great seeing a passion bunch of people perform crazy feats of strength to maneuver some impossible looking obstacles. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is the year there will finally be an American ninja warrior who is able to get to the top of Mt Midoriyama.
  • Masterchef. I've been watching this show since the first season and it just never lets me down. Gordon Ramsey is probably my favorite chef ever, getting to go to his burger place was probably the highlight of one of my Las Vegas trips. I love watching the progression of home cooks and the awesome looking food they are able to dish up. The entire show is just so positive and feel good it's a nice contrast to many other competition type shows out there.
  • Wayward Pines. I've touched on this briefly in F5F but this is one of the new shows for the summer and it's a really intriguing story. It's futuristic but most people on the show don't know it! It makes for a very interesting dynamic and plot and it's starting to get really good. I can't wait for more people to figure out what is going on and it's inspiring me to read the books that it is based on, but at the same time I don't want any spoilers!
  • Mistresses. This show is a little raunchy so it's definitely not one that is appropriate for all ages, but it features a favorite actress of mine so despite some of the questionable writing for it I'm still hooked. This season featured the exit of Alyssa Milano who I felt gave nothing to the show and was frankly a kind of annoying character so I was pleased with that change in cast.
