Birthday Recap

Is it sad to admit that the quarter life crisis is in full swing? Just kidding...kind of. So it was my 25th birthday a few days ago and I must say this has been one of my more celebrated birthdays in awhile. I have some fond childhood memories of some great parties: carnivals, ice skating, horse back riding, exotic animal visits, tea parties and more. Then also the birthdays as I moved through middle school and high school where it was the cool thing to have your friends bring you balloons to tie on your backpack and be laden with flowers and baked goods to show off throughout the day how popular they were. Finally we move through my more recent birthdays which take a darker turn and are just borderline depressing. I'm not a birthday person at this point in my life but I'm hoping that will change soon. This calls for a whole separate post, a jaded birthday discussion, but today I want to talk about the happier times of what happened this year.

I really had nothing planned this year except knowing that I was going out to dinner that night with my mom and my boyfriend so I went to work as usual that day. I was surprised at my desk with a balloon, a stuffed squid (a weird inside joke here), Lucky Charm marshmallow treats, and donuts! Along with that I was greeted with a song as I walked in that morning which was just a very nice start to the day.

Coming home I was surprised again with flowers and then onto a delicious dinner at the Cheesecake Factory where they almost were able to spell my name right on the plate but that's not a big deal at all. Afterwards it was time to cut the cake which is my favorite white chocolate raspberry bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes that was the amazing princess decorated one I had my eye on.

I declined most presents this year but I did ask for one thing which was an iPad. I have a small tablet right now that I use for reading, however I really wanted an iPad which I would be more familiar with using and I would be able to do a lot more with it. It's now turned into my book/Netflix/YouTube/game device and I'm just obsessed with it. I chose this myself so I got the silver iPad 128 GB Air which is the perfect size and weight for what I wanted to use it for. Large enough to comfortably watch videos on while still small enough to tuck into a purse for on the go.

It was the perfect balance of quiet celebration which was exactly what I was looking for and definitely one of my better birthdays. Next year I would like to maybe have something small with a few friends but we'll see how much planning I'm actually motivated to do!
