Things That Didn't Work

I don't recall if I've ever made one of these posts before but here are a few current items cycling through my routine that I'm just finding aren't working for me. Keep in mind something that works for me may be a holy grail for someone else but I just wanted to share my experiences about these particular products and what it is about them that didn't work for me exactly.

  • Simple Cleansing Micellar Water. Cleansing waters were all the craze and I picked up a few different brands to try them out. This one just didn't work for me at all. First of all I did find that it left a film on my skin and it really didn't take off all my makeup as it claims. Also this isn't something you can use around your eyes because you know I tried and it burned really badly. Since I wear mainly eye makeup that in itself makes it a moot product for me.
  • theBalm Brazil Nut Eye Perfection Gel. I wanted to love this since I love theBalm as a brand however this eye gel is VERY greasy and just doesn't work in my life. Since it's so greasy, it's obviously not a morning product however at night since I wear glasses at night, once I put this stuff on it's kind of game over for doing anything because no matter how careful I am, my glasses will always end up with this stuff on the bridge (is that what it's called?) and then they will just start sliding off the nose and I'm unable to do anything and requires vision.
  • L'OrĂ©al Oleo Therapy Deep Recovery Mask. I love the regular shampoo and conditioner Oleo Therapy set so when I saw that there was a mask version I snatched it up. Sadly my hair was not a fan of this stuff at all. It was very heavy on my hair and once my hair dried it felt like straw, not soft and silky. Also whenever I used this stuff my hair started getting greasy a lot faster. I'm sad this didn't work out for me since the shampoo and conditioner is so amazing but at least now I know!
  • Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser with Almond Oil. I've talked about this stuff over and over but seeing as the bottle is still in my shower I'm going to talk about it again. I used the shea butter version of this stuff and it was phenomenal. My legs were so baby soft and smooth feeling so I wanted to give the almond oil a try. This was a horrible experience. It made my skin feel so sticky so I had to scrub it with a loofah in the shower even though it claims you can just rinse it off. Afterwards there were random dry spots on my legs and they felt tacky and a little bit itchy too. Almond oil I do not recommend, however shea butter I can stand proudly behind.
  • Nyx Cosmetics Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray. So matte is suppose to make your skin matte right? No this stuff made my skin dewy and then so oily by the end of the day. All day it felt very tacky and a little wet as if the spray wasn't completely dry and it was the most uncomfortable feeling ever. So no to this stuff when it comes to being matte for me.
  • Smashbox Cosmetics Brow Tech Gloss Stick in Brunette. This came in the Sephora brow kit I bought and this just doesn't work with my life. Why would you want a gloss stick for a brow pencil?! My face is oily enough that I don't need my brows starting out slick and glossy. In general too this is a very soft pencil so I just doesn't look that natural to me and you slap on the fact that it is a glossy finish and that's just game over.
  • Sumita Brow Pencil in Koyla. Once upon a time I liked this stuff but the more I used it, the more I found wrong with it. The pencil is very hard so it doesn't really glide naturally on the skin. Also this grey color is just not flattering at all. I've reached the point where I've definitely decided I don't like this stuff, but at the same time there's still a ton of product. What do you think, turn it into a eye liner maybe?
