March 2016 Favorites!

Favorites! I have a handful to share this time with a mix of makeup and skincare. I know this is rare. I had quite a few reasons to put on a full face of makeup this month and I challenged myself to try out some new products or some oldies that have been gathering dust. At the same time I put quite a dent in my skincare stash (but then I just bought a TON of stuff to fill it back up, more on that next week) so I was able to also return to some oldies that I thought deserved a special shout out again. Anyways, let's just get right into it.

  • NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Soft Spoken. It's been awhile since I've really used lip products but this month I was all about the my-lips-but-better look and this one did it. This is one of NYX's newer products which is a very creamy lipstick that dries matte. Soft Spoken is slightly darker than my lips but not dramatically so when I have it on it still doesn't look like I'm wearing a lipstick. It's non drying and easy to remove however fairly budge proof when it comes to transfer so I'm a fan. I have this stuff in a darker plum that I have yet to take for a spin. I almost did one night but decided the vampy lipstick plus a smokey eye was a slight overkill.
  • H2O Plus Aqualibirum Lip Mender. Sandwiched between my lipsticks I have to give a quick shout out to this lip balm. For awhile I've been cursed with just using EOS products so I was thrilled to find this stuff that I wasn't allergic to and it was also very moisturizing. Right now this is my go to for bedtime because I feel like it's thick enough to hydrate all night long but not a sticky mess. This was something I bought on a whim but I definitely don't regret it.
  • MAC in Faux. This is the ultimate MLBB color for me which took so long to find. It's creamy and silky smooth without being too glossy, yet not completely matte. It blends perfectly on my lips to kind of smooth them over with color but it doesn't look like I'm wearing lipstick at all. It seems silly to want something like this but once you find your MLBB shade, you'll know what I mean!
  • Michael Todd Honey and Oat Cleanser. This has been sitting in my shower for so long while I've been cycling through various samples and I've forgotten how much my skin loves honey. This is a very gentle cleanser that I use instead of a foam cleanser in my two step cleansing process and I love how luxurious and soft it makes my skin feel. The acne also responds well to it, and even though I'm breaking out a lot right now it helps the monstrous ones stay small. Overall it's fairly decent at flushing out the pores and whenever I remember to, it's great paired with my Clarisonic too. Highly recommend this for all skin types looking for a basic cleanser, my skin feels great whenever I use it.
  • Feeling Beautiful Black Sugar & Charcoal Mask. Is this brand Freeman's or Feeling Beautiful or Freeman's Feeling Beautiful? I have no clue but I decided to go with what Ulta listed it as which is Feeling Beautiful. If anyone has clarification on this, it's a hot button topic for me! Anyways, I tried the polish mask before and hated it but then I saw they made just a regular mask with the same ingredients so I was curious to try it out. I LOVE this stuff. It makes my skin feel so soft and look so bright. Such a different experience than the other stuff that it actually made the favorites list. This is a great mask for when I want an extra bit of pampering without anything too harsh in the ingredients. It makes my skin feel good without stripping it.
  • Simple Revitalizing Eye Roll-On. An oldie but a goodie, it's been years since I've used this stuff and I'm so happy it has finally cycled back into my life. No one roll on eye treatment is as good to me as this Simple stuff. The gel instantly brightens and de-puffs my eyes which is good since I've decided to quit coffee. This stuff is elusive for me sometimes so if you ever see it in stores, grab them all!
  • Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. The holy grail of spot treatments for me right now. The acne is everywhere so I'm mostly just smearing this all over my face but it really helps! It's not a miracle overnight solution for me like it is for some people but it does help a lot. I can dot it on to those lurkers before they erupt and once they do it is a much smaller pimple than it should have been. I don't find that the lifecycle of the pimple is any shorter for me but I do find that they make for smaller and less noticeable pimples.
  • Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation. I forgot how much I loved this foundation until I used it again. Unfortunately I do think this may have been the culprit to breaking me out, or just in general I didn't get all the makeup off, but it may be worth the risk. The price and color is right plus the formula just agrees with my skin (minus that it potentially erupted my face in pimples) so while I need to do some more testing with it, for now it is in my favorites because it does it's job well for my skin which isn't easy considering how oily it is.
  • Physician's Formula Bronze Booster. I wasn't crazy about this bronzer when I first got it because it was really sparkly but as I've been using it intermittently the glittery surface has worn away to a much more usable amount. I actually love the brush that comes with it, it's pretty handy for contouring with and right now the color is very complimentary with my skin tone.
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. I've circled back to this and so far I haven't found it pulling out my brow hairs yet which is hopeful because this is one seriously good brow pencil! The size, shape, and color are all perfectly complimentary for my brows. I'm also finding that it's breaking a lot less than it used to, so maybe somewhere in the years when I didn't use it they've made some changes to it meaning I'll start being a loyal Brow Wiz user again!
