Unboxing: Birchbox May 2016

This was almost like the box from hell for me. For once since I discovered that you can peek into your box I decided to let myself be surprised in hopes of rekindling the excitement and love for Birchbox but I was let down in a HUGE way. There's pretty much one product in here that I like but it's also completely unusable. Let's get on with the disappointment.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with Birchbox it is one of those monthly beauty sample boxes where they send you a box of 5-6 (sometimes even 7 with bonus extras) samples and deluxe samples. Occasionally there will be full size products too! The brands they send are all fairly high-end and they have a point system and customer service staff that just can't be beat. For $10 a month you are able to select a sample from a select group of choices and have more surprises delivered to you based on your beauty profile! Have I convinced you to sign up yet? If so I would love it if you would do it through my referral link here! Feel free to also go to if you want to look around without any strings attached to me.
The theme for May 2016 is Out of Doors. The fact that it promised SPF in every box should have been a red flag for me. I almost got the curated box this month but decided not to, so many regrets there too.
Supergoop! Sun Defying Sunscreen Oil with Meadowfoam SPF 50, 5 oz.
Full Size Value: $34 for 5oz | Sample Size Value: $2.31
Let's start with the very offensive sunscreen oil. As if sunscreen wasn't greasy enough some idiot decided to turn it into a oil. No there is so much wrong with this and I'm chucking this into the trash immediately.
Etat Libre d'Orange Like This – 50 ml
Full Size Value: $85 | Sample Size Value: $1
I definitely selected that option to get less perfume samples and I'm pretty sure I've gotten one every month. Birchbox I'm so sick of your crap.
PARLOR® by Jeff Chastain Moisturizing Sea Salt Spray
Full Size Value: $24 | Sample Size Value: $4.89
I swear I got this product last month but after close investigation I got the volumizing spray. This stuff is even worse because sea salt sprays, without fail, just ruins my hair. I'm seriously sick of hair products and I deeply regret getting the year subscription otherwise I think I might just cancel right now. Even the points don't seem worth it anymore if I need to get just one more hair product.
Cargo Blush and Bronzer Duo
Full Size Value: $35 | Sample Size Value: $7
This tiny is adorable and then you open it and realize they squashed both products in one. Why I hate these blush and bronzer duos, because the bronzer gets in the blush and muddies everything up. Also what kind of brush is suppose to get in and JUST get a blush or JUST get a bronzer. Yeah no. It's a shame since I love Cargo but I just don't see how I will enjoy using this.
GOLDFADEN MD™ Doctor’s Scrub - 1.7 oz.
Full Size Value: $38 | Sample Size Value: $5.59
I guess you can say I'm the most excited about this. Rubies, pretty cool. This sample is TINY though, I'll get 2, 3 uses tops out of this. I'll admit I thought it was a lip balm at first, good thing I read the card and didn't just start slathering it on my lips.

Value of Box: $20.79
