Unboxing: Birchbox June 2016

I guess let's just talk about how beautiful this box is? But really, if you've been following my unboxing posts for awhile now you've distinctly seen my opinion of Birchbox go sharply downhill. It's unfortunate since it was my first subscription box and I was overly excited about it for a long time even though that first box I got was kind of awful. I just feel like that they're always sending the same brands now and things that are so similar that I swear I got them a previous month but in the end it turns out it's a difference of volumizing and curl defending (excuse me I put down I have pin straight hair) shampoo samples in identical foil packages. It's turned into less of an excitement because at first glance it's just the same old things. Anyone else feeling this Birchbox rut? And now they're also changing the point system where you can only get 50 points per year. I've officially unsubscribed from this box but I hate that I had a year subscription so now I'll still be getting mediocre boxes until February.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with Birchbox it is one of those monthly beauty sample boxes where they send you a box of 5-6 (sometimes even 7 with bonus extras) samples and deluxe samples. Occasionally there will be full size products too! The brands they send are all fairly high-end and they have a point system and customer service staff that just can't be beat. For $10 a month you are able to select a sample from a select group of choices and have more surprises delivered to you based on your beauty profile! Have I convinced you to sign up yet? If so I would love it if you would do it through my referral link here! Feel free to also go to www.birchbox.com if you want to look around without any strings attached to me.
The theme for June 2016 is everyday kind of magic. The pick your sample this month was the new Benefit brow tint gel which I wasn't completely mad about. I love Benefit and had tried out their original brow tint which I wasn't crazy about so I was interested to see how this new stuff worked.
Benefit gimme brow volumizing fiber gel
Full Size Value: $24 | Sample Size Value: $8
As far as I can tell everything about this stayed the same, they just revamped the packaging and changed the shades. It use to be just light/medium or medium/dark but now it comes in light, medium, and deep. I chose the deep color since my brows should be dark seeing as I have black hair. What I didn't like about this originally was that it didn't apply evenly only brows so it was very patchy and kind of hard to control. Let's see how I feel about it now.
NUXE RĂªve de Miel® Facial Cleansing and Make-Up Removing Gel
Full Size Value: $19 | Sample Size Value: $1.43
I guess let's do the other product before we go into the twilight zone of samples. I'm actually quite a fan of cleansers because not only do I use them everyday but I go through them fairly quickly since I do double cleansing at night. I'm always looking for good options to use with my Clarisonic since sadly the one that I'm a fan of right now is from Etude House (aka I can't walk into the drugstore and pick it up). I particularly love gel cleansers because I find them the most effective and least messy so hopefully this will be a winner.
Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel - Body
Full Size Value: $34 | Sample Size Value: $3.19
Here's where the deja vu starts. Identical packaging to the 3 minute face peel they have. Unfortunately that stuff really didn't work for me. I mean I'll still try the body stuff but I'm not holding out much hope for effectiveness either.
Number 4™ Clarifying Shampoo - 8.5 oz
Full Size Value: $32 | Sample Size Value: $3.76
I'm almost 100% I've received this exact sample before. Maybe it was the hydrating shampoo? Either way, hair care products no!
Number 4™ Lumiere d'hiver Reconstructing Masque
Full Size Value: $58 for 5.1oz | Sample Size Value: $2.84
And here comes the corresponding conditioner. Though I must say I haven't received this particular product before and I do appreciate that it's a hair mask since I use those rather than just regular conditioner. When you wash your hair just twice a week you can get away with that kind of stuff. There are great reviews on this stuff so I'm slightly hopeful it will work out for me. But at the same time I'm still not a fan of receiving hair care products.
Helmut Lang Cuiron
Full Size Value: $165 | Sample Size Value: $1
Wow this perfume is expensive. Also for checking the box that says to limit perfume samples, it's kind of ridiculous that I've received one in every single box.

Value of Box: $20.22
