Review: Birchbox CEW Prestige Box and Mass Appeal 2016

My love hate with Birchbox continues but I've done it every year now that it's almost a tradition, so I'm here with a Birchbox offering. Also quick shout out to Haleigh for signing up with my referral link which gave me 50 extra points! Moving forward I won't be posting that link up anymore since I just don't suggest anyone sign up for this service but still thanks for signing up through me!

Anyways, I got sidetracked again. Today I'm doing a quick unboxing of the CEW award boxes. Each year Birchbox releases two Limited Edition boxes curated from the Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) Beauty Insider Awards, a prestige box and a mass appeal one. Usually there's a bundle offer that saves you about $5 so I typically buy both boxes because they're always great value with some solid items to stock up on. This year I definitely wasn't wowed by either box but I still went for it anyways. The mass appeal box came with a mix of full size and sample items and the prestige box was all samples this year. Let's get right into it.
Limited Edition: Mass Appeal - 2016 Birchbox for CEW ($15)
  1. ChapStick Total Hydration 100% Natural - Soothing Vanilla. Probably what I was most excited about was this. You can never have enough chapsticks since I stash them all over the place and I know this one in particular works for me and vanilla smells great.
  2. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Sheer Hydration Lotion. Tiny little bottle, this will probably get about two uses out of it. Not overly excited about it but at the same time it's a sample that can be used up fairly quickly and not just clutter up.
  3. Simple Skincare Micellar Cleansing Water. A full size of this cleansing water. I actually already have a bottle of this stuff open right now and I'm not a fan. It burns if you get it in your eyes and since I mostly only wear eye make up (mascara and liner), it doesn't work too well for me. I guess I'll use it to refresh the rest of my face during the day but this is kind of a miss for me that will probably get re-gifted.
  4. Olay Regenerist Luminous Overnight Mask. I've heard great stuff about this cream that is an overnight mask that is suppose to help with brightening your skin and evening out the tone. This thing is huge is probably why the box it came in is so big. I can't wait to break into this and see how it goes.
  5. Biore Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips. You can see how I opened this and then remembered I was doing a review for it so I didn't actually use it. I have my favorite pore strips but charcoal strips that are easily accessible in the drugstore are appealing to me. My current favorite is a Tony Moly brand that isn't as easily found in stores here. I can't wait to see how this works out for me.
Limited Edition: Prestige Headliners - 2016 Birchbox for CEW ($18)
  1. Au Naturale Cosmetics Organic Creme Blusher - Grapefruit. Cute and tiny sample but cream products, especially for me cheeks, typically don't work out since I get really oily in my cheeks as well as it being a prime place for clogged pores and break outs. I'll see how this goes for me but I'm not too hopeful.
  2. Moroccanoil Treatment Original. Hair oil, not crazy about this.
  3. Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50. Supergoop is a great brand that everyone seems to get in an abundance in Birchbox, except me. I'm in love with the Coola setting spray with SPF so I'm interested in seeing how I like this stuff since it has a higher SPF. Setting sprays with SPF make me feel like I'm doing something to protect my skin since I hate sunblock and I think even this is better than going bare skin like I normally do.
  4. Shiseido ULTIMUNE EYE Power Infusing Eye Concentrate. Eye creams are always good to have, especially samples of expensive ones. A tiny dot is all you need so these samples last forever and I don't see myself ever having to buying one!
  5. ORIGINS Original Skin Renewal Serum with Willowherb. I'm into Origins products, I especially love their masks, and I conveniently just finished up a serum so I can dive right into testing this one out.
  6. Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue Soothing Moisturising Cream. I can't remember what I've used before that had Calendula as an ingredient but I remember it working out for me. I've suffered from some acne lately and it's lead to redness in my skin so this stuff came at the right time for me to test out too.

  2. I also like using natural stuff for my skin. I definitely going to try this Original Skin Renewal Serum. One thing that everyone should need to add in their boxes is organic body wipes. BTW nice post!
